Regards Covid-19 Issues:

Greetings from TheLab.ms!

So, a disease has gone viral in Plano. Congrats! We’re part of the global Covid-19 pandemic.

What does that mean for TheLab.ms? TheLab has been, and remains a communal makerspace, open 24/7. We rely on volunteers to clean and keep TheLab stocked with appropriate supplies. We rely on volunteers to hold classes and workshops. There is no paid staff. There is no paid cleaning service.

Therefore, we ask for your help as members of TheLab to help keep our facilities clean, and to stay home if you feel sick. (You know, what you’ve been hearing day and night for the past few weeks.)

You should know:

– TheLab has no HOT water. This doesn’t mean you can’t wash your hands properly! (CDC Handwashing Guidelines)

– Leadership is keeping TheLab as stocked with soap, Clorox wipes, and other various cleaners as best we can. Please use them in TheLab as needed. Please note that if the stores run out, we may have trouble keeping things stocked. Feel free to donate supplies! (With or without a pandemic!)

– Please contact the Education Coordinator if you wish to cancel your Meetup. Currently Leadership is leaving cancellation/attendance of Meetups up to event hosts.

– Please email leadership@thelab.ms ASAP if you think you might have been in TheLab and have been exposed to Covid-19/coronavirus. We will do our best to inform membership (while keeping you anonymous) and lock down TheLab to give it a deep clean before re-opening.

Thank you for your understanding and patience; here’s hoping that everyone stays clean and healthy!

03/16/2020 – Please be advised we are postponing all Meetups for the next two weeks, at which time we will re-evaluate. TheLab is not closed to members at this time.
03/18/2020 – As per the city’s most recent COVID-19 update (link here) all Meetups are postponed until April 27. TheLab is still open to members who may need to make use of our facilities. Be advised to follow the guideline for no more than 10 people gathered at a time.
